In case any of you needed to hear this, we’re almost through the first month of 2020, and so far we’ve managed to not blow ourselves up or start WWIII.
We’re doing good.
We’ve got this.
It’s been a busy month, and one that went by much too fast. However, I did manage to make a lot of progress, so let’s talk about it!
My next novel, Of Blood and Briar, is officially at the 10,000 word mark! For this story, I’m looking to end the first draft around 100,000 – 120,000 words to give me additional wiggle room during editing. I’m going to be ramping up my weekly goals to try and get this first draft done before the Final Fantasy VII remake comes out, because we all know what my life is going to be about once that game is released.
I’m really happy with the progress I’ve made so far. It’s taken some effort to hop into a new characters mind, especially in first person, and especially after working with the same characters for almost a decade, but I’m finally finding my groove, settling into this new world, and loving the results.
Of Blood and Briar centers around Calder Navarro who, at the start of this tale, is a child caught up in a brutal and unexpected war waged by the Kingdom of Vermund. Taken as a prisoner along with other children from his village, he catches the eye of the Blade of Vorvaldir, Amari Al’Thurin, an assassin that claims him as her apprentice. It follows his journey as he is raised far from the home he was taken from and trained as a killer that grows to be feared across all of Vermund.
Sound interesting? Add it to your TBR pile over on Goodreads!
I’ve also got a progress page going here where you can keep tabs on my progress and watch the very slow filling of a progress bar. It’s exciting stuff!
BECAUSE SHE REALLY NEEDED ANOTHER HOBBY…
One thing that can be said about me is that I have a lot of hobbies.
Art is one of them.
For many years, I had a Wacom tablet and would casually do art as a way to relax. I love drawing and digital painting, even if it is something I’ve really struggled to be semi-decent at, and love having a hobby where I can visually see the progress I’m making.
Unfortunately, my tablet bit the dust and I didn’t have the time/money to really invest in getting a new one. Months passed, no art was created. I got sad about it.
But, I can finally be happy again because as of this month, I am the proud owner of a new Huion drawing tablet and I love it sooooo much!
It honestly feels like someone gave me a piece of my soul back. It had been a hot minute since I’d done any art, but I’ve managed to pick up right where I left off and am looking to really dedicate time each week to improving and making progress. It feels so nice to have a hobby back that I not only enjoy, but that truly helps me unwind and relax. There is nothing better than putting on headphones, listening to music, and spending hours sketching and painting.
Here are a few pieces I’ve finished so far this month.
Expect to see a lot more art in the future cause I can’t stop myself.
THE ALLSEER TRILOGY SALE
I’m still working on finishing up a blog post dedicated to saying goodbye to The Allseer Trilogy but, in the meantime, I’ve got some news about where to find it, where to buy it, and where you can get it on sale.
The Allseer Trilogy for Kindle is going to be on sale for a limited time from January 26th to February 2nd. You can get the entire trilogy for just $2.99 starting tomorrow (1.26.2020), so make sure to head on over to Amazon to snag that deal before it ends!
The Allseer Trilogy is also part of the Kindle Unlimited program, so if you’re taking advantage of that, you can read the entire trilogy for free!
I also recently received my paperback order, so there are a few signed copies available. You can purchase them here.
