All right, look. I knew 2020 was going to be the worst year ever, but did I really think it was going to be this bad? No. Close, but no.
Life is a little smoldering pile of insanity right now, just waiting for the right conditions to turn into a raging inferno and I’m just out here hoping it doesn’t burn the house down by the time this is over.
To all of you near and far, I hope you stay healthy and safe through all of this.
We’ve got a long, bumpy road ahead but we’ll make it through.
Fortunately, though my day job is by no means essential, I’m back to work which has saved me quite a bit of stress, both in allowing me to continue paying my bills and to get out of the house five days a week. And since I’m the only employee back to work at my job, I’m able to stay fairly isolated and safe from exposure. Basically, my life has changed very little and I feel like I’ve trained and prepared for this level of isolation, which is great. I’m staying sane through this process, which is more than I can say for my more extroverted family and friends that are playing 21 questions on Facebook to stave off their boredom.
Since I leave the house even less now, I’ve been dedicating a lot of time to art, writing, and language lessons. I’ve got a 167 day streak on Duolingo. I spent hours drawing cute derpy bears. I’ve made good progress on my next novel.
Of course, all of this is about to come to a screeching halt as the FFVII remake comes out in 5 days.
I…am…so….excited!
Being productive be damned.
Of Blood and Briar Chapter Preview
I’ve just started writing the 9th chapter of my next standalone fantasy novel, Of Blood and Briar. I’ve been talking about it a lot, and the only thing people really want to know is when they get to read it. Unfortunately, due to the mad state of the world right now, a book release this year doesn’t seem likely. Chapter previews, however, do.
I will be posting the first two chapters shortly after this blog post and will update with a link here for anyone interested in seeing what Of Blood and Briar is all about.
The Allseer Trilogy
If you are quarantined, bored, and need a new book to keep you from going insane, you might consider heading over to Amazon to check out The Allseer Trilogy.
The first book in my YA trilogy is currently on sale for $0.99 for Kindle or you can buy the entire trilogy in one convenient package for $5.99.
You can find it on Amazon for paperback or Kindle. If you are taking advantage of Kindle Unlimited, you can also read the entire trilogy for free! ❤
Song of the Week
Empty bottles
Strawberry syrup too easy to swallow
But what did I know?
Plot twist twisting my heart ’til it’s hollow
Band-aids for all my scraped knees
Blankets when I had bad dreams
Felt like nothing could hurt me ’til you hurt me
I wish there was a sugar coated pill for it
I wish you had some words that wouldn’t make me sick
But this time you can’t make it all better again
Now is now and that was then, that was then
You can’t, you can’t be my medicine
